What a filling does

A filling repairs a tooth affected by decay or a small crack, restoring its shape and strength.

We use tooth-coloured composite that bonds to the tooth and blends in, so there's no metal and no obvious repair.

Why treating decay early matters

Decay doesn't heal, it spreads. A small cavity caught early is a simple filling; left alone it can reach the nerve and need root canal treatment or removal. Early is gentler and cheaper.

Stops decay spreading

Treat the problem while it's small.

Restores the tooth

Brings back strength, shape and function.

Tooth-coloured, with no metal.

Is this right for you?

You may need a filling if…

  • A check-up has found early decay
  • You feel sensitivity to sweet, hot or cold
  • A tooth has a small chip or rough edge
  • An old filling is worn, chipped or leaking
  • You'd like old metal fillings replaced with natural ones
A calm, step-by-step process

How a filling is done

1

Gentle numbing

Comfortable from the start, with happy gas if you'd like.

2

Remove decay

We gently clean away the decayed part.

3

Place the filling

Tooth-coloured material is shaped into the tooth.

4

Set and bond

It's hardened so it's strong and secure.

5

Shape and polish

Matched to your tooth and checked for a comfortable bite.

Honest about what to expect

After your filling

You can eat once the numbness wears off. Some sensitivity to hot or cold for a few days is normal and settles. Fillings last many years, and we'll keep an eye on them at your check-ups.
